Recent Success For Vital Motorsport Race Team
Vital Motorsport would like to congratulate their Team Drivers on their recent performances.
January 2010 signing Bobby Thompson, of which will be competing in the Super 1 and FKS Championships is currently going from strength to strength, he has been on final pole positions at both PF Club Races in February and more recently in March finishing an exceptionally close 2nd place after putting in a string of fastest laps throughout the day. Then more recently at the Super 1 Round at PF showed his talent by topping the timed qualifying leader board group 1 by a mere 3 tenths of a second faster than anyone else, strong finishes in both his heats put him on the second row for the first final, but several incidents resulting in a cracked chassis unfortunately would see him unable to participate at the top, Bobby will now look forward to the first round of the FKS Championship at Rowrah in 2 weeks time.
Josh Parker, whom after signing with Vital Motorsport in the later part of the 2009 season and was seen to increase his level of performance has continued with the Team and will contest both the Super 1 and FKS Championships this season. After an interesting PF Club Race in February, March would see Josh post the fastest lap times throughout the day including the Final which would see him in runner up spot after having to start from 11th position. This placed well for his assault on the Junior Rotax Super 1 Championship, where he showed his worth throughout Friday posting several fastest lap times of the day, with timed qualifying taking place on Saturday Afternoon and after a heavy down pour, Josh would post the fastest lap times in his timed qualifying group 1, lap after lap until unfortunately the last lap, with melting wet tyres and having to back out of the final lap to save his tyres he was unfortunately piped at the top of the score board by a tiny 1 tenth of a second. Nevertheless this was still an outstanding drive in difficult conditions; Good results in both heats would also see Josh start on the outside of Row 2, after a difficult start and dropping back several places with the first lap out of the way Josh then got in to the groove of things and slowly started to work his way back through the field, finishing 2nd and 2 tenths behind the race leader. This was a fantastic result in his first ever Super 1 Championship Final. Final 2 was to be even more entertaining and would ultimately see Josh finish 2nd again along with taking the Rookie driver award – a fantastic result at his first ever Super 1 Championship race.
Team Driver Tom Willett, in his first ever major championship race would see him check straight in to the Final without having to progress through the Repecharge and would see him grid 18th, after a very good drive in his first heat from 21st on the grid to 6th at the flag. Unfortunately Tom felt the pressures of the final and was unable to continue his form from his heats.
Finally Harry Willett in his first full year of competition, found coming to terms with the level of the Super 1 Championship racing quite difficult though do expect a steady increase of competitiveness from this young driver.
Team Manager Gary Rolfe would like to congratulate all of his drivers on a successful championship weekend along with thanks to Steve Ogden of Ogden Motorsport, Ricky Grice of Grice Racing Engines, Warwick Ringham of Strawberry Racing and of course all the mechanics and parents for all their efforts over the past few months.
